This week has been jam packed of getting-to-know-yous! The 30 students got to know me through this "lovely" video about fifth-grade :)

And I got to know them through some games, around the world activities, practicing procedures, and "All About Me" worksheets. This year is off to a great start!

*At home, you can practice getting your child's attention the way we expect them to in the classroom: our schoolwide attention grabber is (teacher) Spitalny! "clap clap" (students) Tigers! "clap clap"

*In the classroom, I clap 5 times to get the students' attention. You can ask your child the rhythm, and they will repeat you. The expectation is that the room is silent so they can hear my instructions.

*You can review how the students should get the teacher's attention by asking your child the three steps involved:

1. Look at the teacher.

2. Raise your hand and stay calm (silently).

3. Wait until the teacher says your name.

4. Ask your question.
