We are using the Engage NY program to learn about human rights! We are using it for writing (and some reading, and even some social studies!), and are learning so much about a timeline of the history of human rights, as well as close reading a primary source called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The class is learning that all humans are endowed with these inalienable rights, and that they shouldn't be taken away, but this wasn't always the case throughout history.

We even watched this cool video to paint us a picture!

The class is learning so many new vocabulary words, so were are practicing summarizing and putting the main ideas of the UDHR into our own words. Here are some examples with a cool centerpiece sent down from my mother in Michigan!
